Polypeptides comprising a collectin neck re- gion, or variant or derivative thereof or amino acid sequence having the same or a similar amino acid pattern and/or hydrophobicity profile, are able to trimerise. Such polypeptides may comprise addi- tional amino acids which may include heterologous amino acids, for example forming a protein domain or derived from an immunoglobulin or comprising an amino acid which may be derivatised for attach- ment of a non-peptide moiety such as oligosaccha- ride, and may form homotrimers or heterotrimers. Heterotrimerisation may be promoted by gentle heating, e.g. to about 50 °C, then cooling to room temperature. One use for the polypeptides is in seeding collagen formation. Nucleic acid encoding the polypeptides and methods of their production are provided.

Ces polypeptides peuvent former des trimères et comprendre des acides aminés supplémentaires pouvant comporter des acides aminés hétérologues, par exemple, formant un domaine protéique ou dérivés d'une immunoglobuline ou comprenant un acide aminé pouvant être dérivé, afin de se fixer à une fraction non peptide, telle qu'oligosaccharide et pouvant former des homotrimères ou des hétérotrimères. La formation d'hétérotrimères peut être favorisée par un réchauffement à température douce, par exemple 50 ~C environ, puis par refroidissement à température ambiante. Une des applications desdits polypeptides peut être l'amorçage de la formation de collagène. L'invention englobe l'acide nucléique codant les polypeptides ainsi que leurs procédés de préparation.
