ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Upper and lower parallel arms are pivoted to the frame of the implement and extend therefrom. A shank carrying crank member is pivoted intermediate the ends to the outer end of the lower arm and by the upper end to a link which in turn is pivoted to the outer end of the upper arm. An adjustable heavy duty ten- sion spring extends between the parallel arms intermediate the ends thereof. When the arms are raised and lower, the shank and culti- vator element carried thereby moves substantially vertical and re- mains in the same horizontal attitude due to the parallel arms. When an obstruction is engaged by the cultivating element, the crank pivots on the lower arm thus forcing the upper arm upwardly and extending the spring. The link goes over center thus facili- tating the tripping action if the obstruction is relatively large and further extends the spring which returns the cultivating ele- ment to its original position after the obstruction has been passed.
