ABSTRACT A trip mechanism for use on a ground working implement. A pivotal member is provided on the trip mechanism with a tension member connected to one arm of the pivotal member and compression spring means is attached to a second arm. The arm of the tension member opposed to the arm attached to the pivot arm is mounted to the carriage of the implement. An obstruction exerting a predetermined amount of force on the ground working tool of the implement will allow the trip mechanism to be activated thus preventing damage to the tool.
