TRIPOD STEPLADDER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tripod stepladder includes rigid stiles having steps and a platform secured thereto. A hinge plate is pivoted to the platform and to a pair of legs to permit the legs to pivot as a unit towards and away from the stiles. The legs pivot relative to the hinge plate towards and away from each other to an unfolded tripod configuration. An A- shaped linkage limits pivoting movement and stabilizes the legs in the extended position.
