ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An axial flow compressor or turbine includes a stator case with a plug which is removable from outside the case, together with one or more stator vanes attached to the plug, to provide access to an adjacent part of the rotor. Such access may be used to add balance weights to the rotor as part of a rotor balancing procedure, or for inspection of rotor blades.
