TRUCK HOOD ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A truck hood assembly of the type which opens forwardly of the truck to expose the engine compartment is provided with four bar linkages interconnecting the hood with the chassis to cause the hood, when manually pulled from the front, to first move in a horizontal orientation forwardly away from the cab, thereby releasing connections between hood and cowl, and then to pivot to a vertical orientation to expose the engine compartment. Hood alignment apparatus connect both sides of the rear end of the hood with the cab frame, while permitting relative vertical movement therebetween, and include a bracket disposed on the hood having a horizontally rearwardly opening slot which receives a T-shaped pin therein when the hood is closed, the clearance between the head of the pin and the hood bracket providing the relative motion. A gap seal apparatus which visually and physically closes the gap between the hood and the cowl comprises a platform-like flange disposed on the rear side of the rear transverse hood reinforcement and extending rearwardly parallel to the hood surface beyond the hood-to- cowl gap to visually close the gap. Once past the gap, the flange turns parallel to the cowl front wall to an elastomeric weatherstrip seal therebetween which is closed by the horizontal hood closing motion provided by the four bar linkage.
