ABSTRACT A tube extracting mechanism comprising an elongated frame defining an opening in the front end thereof and a longitudinally extending passageway in communication with the opening. A sleeve is positioned in the passageway and is slidably supported by the frame for longitudinal movement within the passageway in a first direction toward the opening and in second direction away from the opening. The mechanism further comprises an expandable jaw supported by the sleeve for longitudinal movement therewith, wherein the jaw is movable through the opening; and a mandrel in communication with the expandable jaw for expanding the jaw, wherein longitudinal movement of the mandrel in the first direction expands the jaw. An expansion hydraulic cylinder is provided for imparting longitudinal movement in the first direction to the mandrel, and pulling hydraulic cylinders connected to the frame are provided for imparting longitudinal movement in the second direction to the sleeve and expandable jaw. -1-
