ABSTRACT A tube injector having a frame carrying two continuous flexible members defining a pair of vertical flights forming a path of tube travel therebetween. Opposed backing elements are provided behind the vertical flights for pressing them together so as to grip the tubing. One backing element is a fixed rail, the other being a rail moveable towards the fixed rail. A cylinder block has a recess receiving the moveable rail with a plurality of cylinders intersecting the recess. Pistons are provided in the cylinders and are urged by pressurized fluid into engagement with the moveable rail. The moveable rail is thus forced towards the fixed rail and thereby provides a gripping force between the vertical flights of the continuous flexible members which are circulated by driving motors so as to drive the tube upwardly or downwardly.
