-9- TUBE SECURING INSERT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A plastic insert is used to secure a fragile tubular article, such as a tubular fluorescent lamp, in a sleeve such as the typical single face corrugated paper sleeve. The insert has fluted ends coupled by a hinge. When the insert is folded along the hinge to its usable position, it assumes the form of an open ended fluted tube that is inserted into one end of the paper sleeve. When the lamp or tube is inserted from the opposite end of the sleeve it slides into and expands the insert sufficiently to fit the contour of the tube, with the flutes of the insert expanding and engaging the flutes on the inside surface of the paper sleeve to thus securely lock the tube in the sleeve.
