The present invention provides a tubing injector for moving reeled tubing into and out of wellbores. The injector includes a pair of endless tracks the have a through opening therebetween for the passage of the tubing therethrough. A plurality of engagement assemblies are carried by the endless tracks. Each assembly on one track has a corresponding assembly on the other track. As the track is moved, the corresponding assemblies face each other. The corresponding assemblies have lateral latches that lock. Gripping members in each such assembly engage the tubing to move the tubing. The gripping force is generated internally within the assemblies rather than being applied externally.

Cette invention se rapporte à un injecteur de tubages qui sert à introduire des tubages enroulés dans des puits de forage et à les faire sortir de ces puits. Cet injecteur comprend une paire de chenilles comportant une ouverture traversante entre elles pour le passage du tubage. Plusieurs mécanismes d'engrènement sont prévus sur ces chenilles. A chaque mécanisme se trouvant sur l'une des chenilles correspond un mécanisme sur l'autre chenille. Lorsque la chenille avance, les mécanismes correspondant se retrouvent face à face. Les mécanismes correspondants présentent des crans latéraux qui s'interverrouillent. Des éléments d'engrènement prévus dans chacun de ces mécanismes accrochent le tubage pour le déplacer. La force d'engrènement est produite à l'intérieur de ces mécanismes plutôt qu'appliquée de l'extérieur.
