A method of forming a seal between two tubular members (30, 32) comprises providing a first tubular member (30) having an internal surface and an external surface describing a first diameter, with a recess (34) in the external surface at a seal portion of the first tubular member. A deformable circumferentially extending sealing member (36) is located in the recess, the sealing member describing an external diameter no greater than the first diameter. The first tubular member (30) is located within a second tubular member (32) and the seal portion of the first tubular member (30) is expanded such that the sealing member (36) engages an inner surface of the second tubular member (32).

La présente invention concerne un procédé de formation d'un joint d'étanchéité entre deux éléments tubulaires (30, 32). Ledit procédé comprend l'utilisation d'un premier élément tubulaire (30) possédant une surface interne et une surface externe décrivant un premier diamètre, avec une encoche (34) au niveau de la surface externe sur une partie joint d'étanchéité du premier élément tubulaire. Un élément d'étanchéité (36) s'étendant sur la circonférence, déformable, est situé dans l'encoche, l'élément d'étanchéité décrivant un diamètre externe inférieur à celui du premier diamètre.
