An apparatus and method are provided for separating components of a fluid or particles. A separation vessel (28) having a barrier dam (62) is provided to initially separate intermediate density component of a fluid, and a fluid chamber (30) is provided to further separate these intermediate density components by forming an elutriative field or saturated fluidized particle bed. The separation vessel is placed in a retainer on a centrifuge rotor (12) and ridges (68) in the retainer form various dams (70) in the separation vessel. Also disclosed are tubing sets and various separation vessels for use with the apparatus.
La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de séparation des composants d'un fluide ou de particules. Un récipient de séparation (28) possédant un élément de barrage faisant barrière (62) est destiné à séparer initialement des composants de densité intermédiaire d'un fluide, et une chambre de fluide (30) est destinée à séparer ultérieurement les composants de densité intermédiaire en formant un champ d'élutriation ou un lit de particules fluidisées saturées. Le récipient de séparation est placé dans un dispositif de retenue sur un rotor centrifuge (12) et des nervures (68) ménagées dans le dispositif de retenue forment différents éléments de barrage (70) dans le récipient de séparation. L'invention concerne également un ensemble de tubes et de récipients de séparation à utiliser avec l'appareil.
