In order to produce an improved pump housing, which can be manufactured in a simple manner without any metal-removal operations, and which incorporates a step in the its inside wall in order to hold an end plate of a pump motor, for example, in such a way as to seal it, it is proposed that the housing be a deep-drawn part that is manufactured from a circular blank without the removal of any metal, by using deep drawing as a re-shaping technique, the step being formed by drawing and ironing over an internal mandrel that matches the shape and dimensions of the step.
