A reinforcing member (10) for receiving thereon a thermally expansible reinforcing material (22) includes a tubular carrier (20) and a fastener (26) mechanically affixing the reinforcing material to the carrier. The tubular carrier preferably has a continuous arcuate wall with the reinforcing material received on the exterior thereof. The reinforcing material may be provided as a plurality of longitudinally spaced annular elements, an elongated sleeve, or a prism-shaped element. Upon heating, the reinforcing material expands and bonds the carrier to the structure member to provide additional strength and stiffness. Image
L'invention porte sur un élément de renfort (10) recevant à sa surface un matériau de renfort thermoexpansible (22) et consistant en un porteur tubulaire (20) et en une fixation (26) solidarisant mécaniquement le matériau de renfort au porteur. Le porteur tubulaire présente de préférence une paroi incurvée continue à l'extérieur de laquelle est disposé le matériau de renfort. Le matériau de renfort peut consister en plusieurs éléments annulaires espacés longitudinalement, en un manchon allongé, ou en éléments prismatiques. Sous l'effet de la chaleur le matériau de renfort se dilate et lie le porteur à l'élément structurel en améliorant la résistance et la rigidité.
