In a tufting carpet, the tufting threads (2) are tufted into a tufting backing (1) and firmly bonded thereto. The back side (1a) of the tufting carpet (1) bears a layer (5) made up of pieces of thermoplastic foil material cut into pieces and interconnected under heat and pressure. The back branches (2a) of the tufting threads (2) are firmly tied into the layer (5).
