The present invention relates to a tunable gain coupled laser device, preferably a so-called DFB-laser. The device comprises a laser waveguide with an active material, a pump laser which emits pump light with a pump light wavelength .lambda.p and means for orientation and direction of pump light beams towards the waveguide. The active material in the laser waveguide is a semiconductor material and it is excited by two pump light beams which originate from one and the same pump laser and which are directed against each other, each forming an angle of incidence with the laser waveguide.

La présente invention se rapporte à un dispositif laser à couplage de gain accordable, de préférence un dispositif appelé laser DFB (laser à rétroaction répartie). Le dispositif comprend un guide d'onde laser possédant un matériau actif, un laser de pompage qui émet une lumière de pompage ayant une longueur d'onde lambda p, et des moyens pour orienter et diriger des faisceaux de lumière de pompage vers le guide d'onde. Le matériau actif se trouvant dans le guide d'onde laser est un matériau semi-conducteur, et il est excité par deux faisceaux de lumière de pompage qui émettent à partir d'un seul et même laser de pompage, et qui sont dirigés l'un contre l'autre, chacun formant un angle d'incidence avec le guide d'onde laser.
