An optical coupler (10) has two fibers (20, 30) that are adjacent each other in a coupling region (12). One of the fibers has a clad doped with a photosensitive glass, such as germania. The photosensitive glass is exposed to suitable radiation to alter the index of refraction of fiber and tune the coupler (110) to the selected coupling frequency.

Cette invention concerne un coupleur optique (10) comportant deux fibres (20, 30) adjacentes au niveau d'une région de couplage (12). Une de ces fibres est recouverte d'un placage dopé avec un verre photosensible, du type oxyde de germanium. Ce verre photosensible est exposé à un rayonnement adéquat de façon à modifier l'indice de réfraction de la fibre et à accorder le coupleur (110) sur la fréquence de couplage sélectionnée.
