-10- ABSTRACT A single-ended tungsten halogen lamp having a tubular hardglass envelope containing an inert gas and a halogen, preferably bromine. An improved halogen regenerative cycle in this type of lamp is achieved by minimizing the bromine and impurity attack on the tungsten filament, thus increasing lamp life over a wider application temperature range, through the use of a tantalum or zirconium getter which is in the form of a coil. This coil is particularly useful in small volume lamps, and in a preferred embodiment, is attached to the filament mounting structure (bridge) on the side thereof opposite the main filament body.
