ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tuning voltage generating apparatus of a voltage synthesizer type for supplying a tuning voltage to a tuner employs a variable reactance element as a tuning element and comprises an input pulse signal providing circuit for pro- viding an input pulse signal having a pulse width corresponding to a frequency to be received, a reference voltage generator for generating first and second reference voltages having at least two different levels, a voltage converter responsive to the input pulse signal and one of the reference voltages for generating an output pulse signal, and a low-pass filter for converting the output pulse signal into a direct current tuning voltage. The upper limit of the tuning voltage is determined by at least one of the reference voltages and at least the relatively lower level reference voltage is pro- vided to the voltage converter.
