ABSTRACT A compact efficient fan which utilizes an improved impeller. The impeller allows no slippage of air within its cylindrical volume. This results in a fan which has a discharge which is directly proportional to its RPM. The impeller comprises a cylindrical hub having a plurality of wheel blades affixed peripherally therearound. The blades are each constructed from a sheet cut to a pattern having end portions which are bent forward to form a cupped blade. The end portions of the blade shear inlet air and rotatably accelerate it to the central blade portion. In the central blade portion, the air received from the end blade portions is further accelerated both in the direction of rotation and radially outwards. The outwards acceleration is facilitated by a back slope (from a radial line) of the central blade portion. The cylindrical hub is affixed on a shaft which is rotatably mounted to an angular frame. The angular frame also supports and positions a scroll shaped housing which encloses the impeller. Means to drive the impeller may be supported and positioned by the frame.
