ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A monitor for monitoring the vibration of the rotating portion of a turbine comprises radioactive nuclides carried by a rotating portion of the turbine. A sensor is positioned in a fixed location with respect to the rotating portion of the turbine. The sensor is responsive to the movement of the radioactive nuclides past the sensor for producing an input signal. A processor extracts vibration information from the input signal.
