High efficiency, thin walled turbine components (10) include a superalloy substrate (12) covered by a thin skin (14). The thin skin (14) may be bonded to the inner spar structure of the turbine blade airfoil by a transient liquid phase bonding process. The inner spar preferably includes a cast single crystal nickel base superalloy. The thin skin may include a single crystal or polycrystalline nickel base superalloy.
