TURBINE ROTOR CONSTRUCTIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Steam introduced into a turbine casing from an inlet is longitudinally divided into portions that flow in respective stages disposed along the shaft. The shaft and a plurality of disks which are manufactured independently are made integral by a thermal shrink. In order to reduce the thermal distortion effects on the shaft and hence the vibration of the shaft caused by keys interconnecting the disks and shaft, adjacent disks have their keys arranged at 180° with respect to each other. Other embodiments include dummy grooves and keys to balance the thermal distortion effects of the keys interconnecting the disks and shaft.
