ABSTRACT A turbocharger system for supplying charge air to a combustion engine includes a nonventilated hydraulic turbine mounted directly on the turbocharger shaft. The nonventilated hydraulic turbine is selectively driven by a high pressure hydraulic fluid to drive supplementally the turbocharger during engine operating conditions when additional air flow to the engine is required.
