The contemporary Turbojet, used to propel aircraft is a good engine; but all of the Kinetic Energy of the outgoing gas is lost; I propose to fix a divergent nozzle on the end of its exhaust pipe; which functions as a diffuser of such shape and length that the gas slows its speed within it (to the back) to the same speed as is the forward speed of the aircraft or automobile; shockwaves would then not form in the diffuser, therefore the pressure of the outgoing gas would be the same as is the pressure of the ambient atmospheric pressure: all of the Kinetic Energy of the gas is used to propel the aircraft; the gas exits the diffuser (without noise) with zero speed measured according to the surface of the Earth; then the theoretical propulsion efficiency of the Turbojet is 100%.
