ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A turf perforating machine for aerating lawns by removing plugs therefrom is provided herein. It includes a wheeled frame having a lateral- ly disposed shaft rotatably mounted on the frame. Power means are mounted on the frame and are operably connected to the shaft so as to rotate the shaft. A guide device is pivotally connected to the shaft and depends therefrom for rotation aobut the same axis of the shaft-bit-independently thereof. An eccentric unit is secured to the shaft. A reciprocating unit is slidably disposed in the guide device and has one end connected to the eccentric unit and has its other end depending from the guide unit. Finally, a tool unit is secured to and depends from, the reciprocating unit for perforating the turf. This turf perforator machine plugs the turf, but yet is light in weight, is economical to manufacture, and is extremely effective.
