TURNDOWN CONTROL METHOD FOR MEMBRANE SEPARATION SYSTEMS Abstract of the Disclosure Permeable membrane processes are efficiently carried out, under reduced demand conditions, by reducing the feed flow and the partial pressure driving force across the membrane. The installed membrane surface area is fully utilized during such reduced demand conditions. The reduced driving force is achieved by reducing the feed stream pressure and/or increasing the pressure on the permeate side of the membrane. Reduced product flow and/or reduced product purity are readily achieved during said reduced demand periods, while start/stop operation of the membrane system is avoided and the reliability of the overall system is increased.
