The invention provides a counter-rotating extrusion system (30) for processing foam material. The system is designed to introduce a physical blowing agent into the extruder, thoroughly disperse the blowing agent within the polymer melt and, preferably, to maintain relatively high pressures downstream from the point of blowing agent introduction. High quality polymeric foams, including microcellular foams, can be produced using the extrusion system (30). The system is particularly suitable for the production of foams using shear sensitive and degradable materials, such as PVC.
L'invention concerne un système d'extrusion (30) à vis contrarotatives, destiné au traitement de matériau en mousse. Ce système est conçu pour introduire un agent d'expansion dans l'extrudeuse, pour disperser parfaitement l'agent d'expansion dans la matière polymère en fusion et, de préférence, pour maintenir des pressions relativement élevées en aval du point d'introduction de l'agent d'expansion. Ainsi, il est possible de produire, au moyen de ce système d'extrusion (30), des mousses polymères haute qualité, notamment des mousses microcellulaires. Ce système est conçu tout particulièrement pour la production de mousses dans lesquelles on utilise des matériaux sensibles au cisaillement et dégradables, tels que du PVC.
