A novel hybrid solar energy collector is disclosed that absorbs radiated sunlight across a wide spectrum of wavelengths through an array of tubular passages exhibiting thermal absorption and photonic to electronic conversion characteristics. More specifically, the array of tubular passages consist in glass tubes coated with a dye-sensitized semiconductor material and filled with a suitable electrolytic fluid and encapsulated with a inner tube to form a twin tube solar cell. Sunlight radiate through the glass tubes onto the dyed semiconductor which absorb the photonic and thermal energy. The photonic energy is converted to electron volts while the thermal energy is conducted to the electrolytic fluid and recaptured by heat transfer fluid through the inner tube.
