The invention provides an improvement in the aluminum baluster, picket or spindle, which can be used internally or externally in a home or commercial building. It is manufactured utilizing a 6000 series square aluminum extrusion. The aluminum extrusion must be thermally and mechanically processed in order to complete the manufacturing cycle. The raw extrusion is cut to length then annealed by an aluminum heat treat process. It is then filled with a medium that will allow it to be twisted without collapsing within itself. The extrusion is plugged at each end and held stationary at one end whilst turned on the other end to produce the twist. The medium is removed and the extrusion is again heat treated to return the mechanical properties to the maximum tensile strength the material is capable of.
