A male contact has an elongated contact pin and terminal. The contact pin and the terminal extend along a longitudinal axis. The contact pin has a first end, a second end, an upper surface and a lower surface and is quadrangular in cross-section, and in a preferred mode is square in cross-section. The terminal has a first section and a second section spaced therefrom. The first section has a pair of jaws in crimping engagement with the upper contact surface. The jaws are attached to a band or ribbon that is in contact with the lower surface of the contact pin. A box structure is positioned between the first section and the second section and has an upper surface area and a lower surface area. A polarizing key is formed in the lower surface area, as by stamping. The key may be formed asymmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis.
