ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus are provided herein for forming a manhole assembly comprised of a base portion and cylindrical shell extending upwardly from the base portion and having openings, the interior of the base portion having a channel extending between the openings using a double pour technique. Such technique involves, as a first step, casting a member having a base por- tion and upright sidewalls having openings therein. Then a positioning ring is placed in each opening. A semi-cylindrical channel forming member is then placed in the interior of the cast member adjacent each opening. The channel forming member is then secured to an associated positioning ring axially to align the portion of the channel formed by each channel forming portion with its adajcent opening. Casting material is then poured into the interior of the mold to a height to substantially cover the semi-cylindrical channel define portion of the channel forming member, and is allowed to set. Each positioning ring is then removed from its associated channel forming member, and the chan- nel forming members and the positioning rings are then removed from the cast member.
