TWO-PULSE TACHYCARDIA CONTROL PACER Abstract of the Disclosure There is disclosed an improved pacer for con- trolling tachycardia. Prior art pacers of this type generate a stimulus a short time, known as the "initial delay", after confirmation of tachycardia. The initial delay is "scanned" from one extreme to the other until the condition is terminated. In some pacers of this type, a second stimulus is generated at a fixed time, known a the "coupled interval", after the first stimulus; the second stimulus sometimes terminates the condition even if the first does not. In the improved pacer, the coupled interval is scanned as well as the initial delay. Also, the time parameters which are successful in ter- minating the condition are stored so that upon confirmation of another tachycardia event, the previously successful time parameters are the first ones to be tried. The unit also allows tachycardia to be induced by the physician so that the parameters which are programmable can be ad- justed for optimum performance following a subsequent naturally occurring tachycardia confirmation.
