A susceptor structure (30) includes a substrate (38) having a first side an a second side. A first microwave interactive layer (40) is located on the first side of the substrate (38). A covering layer (44) is coupled to the first microwave interactive layer (40). The first microwave interactive layer (40) is coupled to the covering layer (44) more firmly than to the substrate (38) during exposure of the susceptor structure (30) to microwave energy.
