ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Unsaturated light hydrocarbons are produced by coking a heavy hydrocarbonaceous oil in a conventional fluid coking zone and subsequently heating the vaporous coker product to a higher temperature in a gas-solids separation zone, such as the coking reactor's cyclone separator, with hot solids derived from a coke gasification zone.
