The present invention relates to a tyre for a vehicle wheel, such as a cycle wheel, comprising: a tyre element of wear-resistant rubber material which contains a running surface and has tread on the outside; and a buffer layer fixed to the inner surface of the tyre element for receiving therein objects penetrating the tyre, wherein the tyre element and the buffer layer at least partially enclose a pressure chamber. The buffer layer is manufactured from a material, wherein the tyre has a stiffness which is associated with a low rolling resistance and which is at least approximately equal to that of a tyre without buffer layer under pressure from the pressure chamber.
