A tyre with a radial carcass reinforcement (1) having a crown reinforcement (3) including at least two working crown plies (32, 34) made of non-stretchable cables, where the cables of adjacent plies lie in intersecting directions and are at an angle of 10-45 DEG to the circumferential direction. No ply consists of non-stretchable cables at an angle of more than 45 DEG to the circumferential direction, and an additional axially continuous ply (33) consisting of metal elements that are substantially parallel to the circumferential direction is radially arranged between the working plies (32, 34) and has an axial width L33 at least 1.05 times greater than the axial width of the broadest working crown ply (L32, L34).
