The present invention relates to a foundation comprising one or more layers or mattresses of tyres (12 and 14), and a fill material provided within and/or between tyres of each of the mattresses (12 and 14). The fill material (16) is preferably a relatively coarse aggregate and provides a porous bed having relatively high drainage capacity. The lowermost mattress (14) is typically wrapped in a porous sheet such as a geofabric cloth which is designed to allow the passage of water across the lowermost mattress (14) whilst preventing the ingress of relatively finer material into the fill and which can otherwise lead to degeneration of the foundation. At least some of the tyres typically also have an upper sidewall removed therefrom.
L'invention concerne des fondations comprenant au moins une ou plusieurs couches ou matelas de pneus (12, 14) et une matière de charge placée dans et/ou entre les pneus de chaque matelas (12, 14). La matière de charge (16) est, de préférence, un agrégat relativement grossier et sert de lit poreux à capacité de drainage relativement élevée. Le matelas inférieur (14) est normalement enroulé dans une feuille poreuse telle qu'un tissu géotextile plat qui est conçu pour permettre le passage de l'eau à travers le matelas inférieur (14) tout en évitant l'entrée de matière relativement plus fine dans la charge et qui risquerait, sinon, d'entraîner une détérioration des fondations.
