The invention concerns a tyre with aspect ratio less than 0.80, comprising a metallic radial carcass reinforcement ply and a top working reinforcement ply (3), consisting of two working plies (31) and (32) formed with inextensible reinforcing elements oriented at angles alpha and alpha ', with axial widths L31 and L32 respectively ranging between 0.65 S0-0.80 S0 and 0.35 S0-0.45 S0, S0 being the maximum axial width of the carcass reinforcement ply (1), and at least two half-plies (33) consisting of inextensible metallic elements and forming with the circumferential direction an angle beta , less than the smaller one of angles alpha and alpha ' by at least 2 DEG and opposite in direction to the direction of the angle alpha of the largest axially continuous working ply (31), said half-plies (33) being arranged on either side of the equatorial plane XX' with axial widths L33 ranging between 0.22 S0 and 0.35 S0, and such that their axially internal ends are distant from the equatorial plane XX' by a value equal to half the length of the narrower working ply (32) reduced by a value not less than 0.05 S0.
