A U-shaped fiber optical cable assembly (11, 21) is arranged in a heated well (1) such that a nose section (13, 23) comprising the bent U-shaped cable section (11C, 21C) is located near the toe (1 A) of the well where the ambient well temperature is lower than the temperature of an intermediate section of the well which is heated by steam injection, electrical heating and/or influx of heated hydrocarbon fluids from a heated section of the surrounding formation to a temperature above 200 degrees Celsius, thereby inhibiting the risk of hydrogen darkening of the bent U-shaped cable section. It is preferred to make the nose section of a glass solder, to arrange the U-shaped fiber optical cable assembly in an aluminium guide tube (22) sealed at its lower end with end cap (31), and to use a heat resistant fiber optical cable to further inhibit the risk of hydrogen darkening of the assembly.
Un assemblage de câble optique en U constitué de fibres (11,21) est disposé dans un puits chauffé (1) de sorte qu'une partie avant (13,23) comprenant la partie de câble profilée en U (11C, 21c) soit située à proximité de la base (1A) du puits, où la température ambiante du puits est inférieure à la température d'une partie intermédiaire du puits qui est chauffée par injection de vapeur, électriquement et/ou par afflux de fluides d'hydrocarbure provenant d'une partie chauffée de la configuration environnante à une température supérieure à 200 degrés Celsius; ceci permet de limiter le risque de noircissement par l'hydrogène de la partie de câble profilée en U. On préfère réaliser la partie avant par brasage par fibres de verre pour disposer l'assemblage de câble optique en U dans un tube mère en aluminium (22) scellé en son extrémité inférieure par un capuchon d'extrémité (31) et on préfère utiliser un câble optique constitué de fibres thermorésistant pour limiter le risque de noircissement par hydrogène, de l'assemblage.
