In a tool for lighting hard to reach natural gas pilots (specifically: furnaces, hot water tanks and barbecues). The microelement is positioned at the top end of the hollow graphite rod, and protected by a safety cage. The other end of the graphite rod is attached to a handle, which houses the battery pack, and is connected by two wires that extend up the inside of the hollow graphite rod and holds the microelement in place. It is operated manually by depressing a micro switch that is located on the top of the handle. When this switch is depressed it sends a charge to the microelement, producing heat sufficient to light Natural Gas or Liquid Petroleum Gas. The tool is to be inserted with the microelement held horizontally and placed directly 1/2" above the gas pilot target. After turning the natural gas on to the pilot, the switch on the tool is to be depressed and held until the gas to be lit is ignited, or depressed and held at intervals of no longer than five seconds.
