An ultra light weight reflector for a satellite application using an open weave fabric including a plurality of strands. The plurality of strands are oriented along distinct axis are intertwined with respect to each other. The multi-axial fabric is at least tri-axial. A support, which is connected to the satellite, maintains the position of the fabric. The fabric is single ply, and as such the construction is resilient, lightweight, and relatively simple to produce. The fabric is typically formed as a membrane into either a standard shape (i.e. flat, parabolic, hyperbolic, etc.), or more complex shaped surface using techniques known in the art.
