A process in the removal of hydrocarbons from reservoirs involves the injection of a fluid that is primarily used to fracture and dissolve the host rock. To prevent the loss of this fluid down any one particular fracture, sealers are employed to restrict the flow of the fluid into opened fractures. Typically, these sealers are spherical in shape, and seat themselves in the perforations created in the casing of the Wilbur. Critical to the success of the ball sealers is the relationship between the density of the fracturing fluid and that of the ball sealers. It is known that ultra low density ball sealers are now required due to improved techniques of modern day hydrocarbon recovery. The ability to produce a ball sealer that can meet the criteria of ultra low density, high strength and chemical resistivity is hereby disclosed. Through developments in the plastics industry, it is now possible to create a void filled, reinforced, injection molded ball that meets the criteria mentioned above and therefore suitable for application in the oil and gas industry.
