A photoelectric smoke detector incorporates a short wavelength radiant energy emitter (14). The emitter, an LED or laser diode, emits frequencies in a range of 430 to 450 nanometers. The emitted frequencies can be further shortened by directing them to impinge on a non-linear crystalline material (22). Radiant energy emitted from the material will have a wavelength on the order of sixty percent that of incident radiant energy (14'). The short wavelength energy will be scattered by airborn particulate matter characteristic of relatively fast, flaming fires. The emitter, an LED or laser diode can include an 880 or 940 nm wavelength coupled with shorter wavelength ranges (190-450 nm) with associated detection. It also has the capability of detecting slow burning smoldering-type fires. A control circuit and an audible output device provide a local audible alarm of a detected fire.
On décrit un détecteur de fumée photoélectrique, qui comprend un émetteur d'énergie rayonnante à longueur d'onde courte (14). L'émetteur, une diode DEL ou laser, émet des fréquences de l'ordre de 430 à 450 nanomètres. Les fréquences émises peuvent être réduites encore par une réorientation qui les précipite sur un matériau cristallin non linéaire (22). L'énergie rayonnante émise à partir du matériau présente une longueur d'onde de l'ordre de soixante pour cent de l'énergie rayonnante incidente (14'). L'énergie à longueur d'onde courte est diffusée par une matière particulaire aéroportée caractéristique des feux flambants relativement rapides. L'émetteur, une diode LED ou laser, présente une longueur d'onde de 880 ou 940 nm couplée à des plages de longueur d'onde plus courtes (190-450 nm) avec détection associée. Il peut également détecter des feux couvants à combustion lente. Un circuit de commande et un dispositif de sortie audible produisent une alarme sonore locale lorsqu'ils détectent un feu.
