An ultra-violet lamp (19) has a pair of electrodes (31, 32) within the lamp, the electrodes being connected to a DC power supply (34). There is a coil (37) wound round the lamp, the coil being connected to an RF power supply (38). The DC power supply (34) and the RF power supply (38) are controlled by control means (39) adapted to activate an RF voltage in the coil (37) to initiate the supply of ultra-violet light (20) from the lamp, to activate a DC voltage between the electrodes (31, 32), and to switch off the RF voltage when the DC voltage is sufficient to maintain the supply of ultra- violet light.
Une lampe (19) à rayons ultraviolets possède une paire d'électrodes (31, 32) situées à l'intérieur de la lampe et raccordées à une alimentation en courant continu (34). Une bobine (37) est enroulée autour de la lampe et raccordée à une alimentation HF (38). L'alimentation en courant continu (34) et l'alimentation HF (38) sont commandées par des moyens de commande (39) conçus pour activer une tension HF dans la bobine (37), afin de déclencher la production de lumière ultraviolette (20) par la lampe, pour activer une tension de courant continu entre les électrodes (31, 32), et pour couper la tension HF quand la tension de courant continu est suffisante pour maintenir la production de lumière ultraviolette.
