An ultrawide (UWB) receiver utilizes a strobed input line (14) with a sampler (10) connected to an amplifier (18). In a differential configuration (18), +UWB inputs (14a) are connected to separate antennas or to two halves of a dipole antenna. The two input lines (14) include samplers (10) which are commonly strobed (12) by a gating pulse with a very low duty cycle. In a single ended configuration, only a single strobe input line and sampler is utilized. The samples integrate, or average, up to 10,000 pulses to achieve high sensitivity and good rejection of uncorrelated signals.
