A catheter device (10) incorporating combined ultrasound ablation and balloon dilation components. The catheter device (10) generally comprises an elongate catheter body (12) having proximal and distal ends (14,16) and an outer surface (18). Disposed on the outer surface (18) of the catheter body (12) is a dilation balloon (98). At least one balloon inflation lumen (70) fluidly connects the proximal end (14) of the catheter body (12) to the dilation balloon (98) to permit injection of inflation fluid into the dilation balloon (98). Extending longitudinally through the catheter body (12) is an ultrasound transmission member (28) having a proximal end and a distal end, with the proximal end being connectable to an ultrasound transducer (12) such that ultrasonic energy will pass through the ultrasound transmission member (20) to the distal end thereof. In alternative embodiments of the present invention, there are provided catheter devices incorporating combined ultrasound ablation and laser ablation components as well as combined ultrasound ablation and atherectomy ablation components.
Un dispositif à cathéter (10) comporte des composants combinés d'ablation par ultrasons et de dilatation par ballonnet. Ce dispositif (10) comprend généralement un corps de cathéter (12) de forme allongée, pourvu d'une extrémité proximale et d'une extrémité distale (14, 16) ainsi que d'une surface extérieure (18). Sur la surface extérieure (18) du corps de cathéter (12) est placé un ballonnet de dilatation (98). Au moins une lumière (70) met en communication fluidique l'extrémité proximale (14) du corps de cathéter (12) avec le ballonnet de dilatation (98) pour permettre l'injection du fluide de gonflage dans ledit ballonnet de dilatation (98). Un organe transmetteur d'ultrasons (28) s'étend longitudinalement à travers le corps de cathéter (12) et comprend une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale (30), ladite extrémité proximale pouvant être reliée à un transducteur ultrasonique (22) de sorte que de l'énergie ultrasonique peut traverser l'organe transmetteur d'ultrasons (28) jusqu'à son extrémité distale (30). Dans d'autres modes de réalisation de la présente invention, les dispositifs à cathéter comprennent des composants combinés d'ablation par ultrasons et d'ablation par laser ainsi que des composants combinés d'ablation par ultrasons et d'athérectomie.
