Ultrasonic sealing apparatus, including at least one anvil (32, 42-54) and at least one transducer (34, 112-116) opposed to the anvil to transmit ultrasonic energy to a workpiece (24) clamped between them, is disclosed. A biasing element (40) is connected between the anvil or the horn and its drive (36, 38) to define the sealing pressure developed between the anvil and the horn. The biasing force can be adjusted without stopping the machine, by using an externally applied pneumatic force. The anvil has a backing element (56) with a curved front surface (212) connected to a curved back surface (236) of the anvil. A fastener (226) is provided for selectively fixing the anvil and the backing element together or allowing the anvil to shift along the curved surface of the backing element for aligning the anvil with respect to the transducer. A cooling fluid may be provided for passing through a passage (240) in the anvil body for cooling during operation. A method for aligning the anvils and transducers of an ultrasonic sealing apparatus as described above is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne un appareil de soudage par ultrasons comprenant au moins une enclume (32, 42-54) et au moins un transducteur (34, 112-116) opposé à l'enclume et conçu pour transmettre une énergie ultrasonore à une pièce (24) bloquée entre ces derniers. Un élément de sollicitation (40) est relié entre l'enclume ou le bras de soudage et sa commande (36, 38) pour définir la pression de soudage développée entre l'enclume et le bras. On peut ajuster la force de sollicitation sans stopper la machine en utilisant une force pneumatique appliquée de l'extérieur. L'enclume présente un élément de support (56) doté d'une surface frontale courbe (212) reliée à une surface arrière courbe (236) de l'enclume. Une attache (226) permet de fixer sélectivement ensemble l'enclume et l'élément de support ou de décaler l'enclume le long de la surface courbe de l'élément de support pour aligner l'enclume par rapport au transducteur. Un liquide de refroidissement destiné à passer dans un passage (240) situé dans le corps de l'enclume est prévu pour le refroidissement en cours d'opération. L'invention porte également sur un procédé d'alignement des enclumes et des transducteurs d'un appareil de soudage par ultrasons selon l'invention.
