Abstract Ultrasonic-image device with ultrasonic applicator for line-by- line ultrasonic scanning and with a device for displaying an echo perspective representation. The aim of the invention is to produce an image device which alleviates coupling problems in any position at all of the application location; in addition application should also be possible in particular in the chest area for obtaining subcostal sectional images. This aim is achieved according to the invention by line-by-line scanning applicator mounted for oscillation or rotation for the purpose of oscillation or rotation of the scanning surface about an oscillating-or rotating-axis in a specific angular range, e.g. by motor drive, which on application is firmly assigned to the respective applica- tion location.
