An ultrasonic lipectomy probe device comprises, in accordance with the present invention, a shank (10) having a proximal end (16) and a distal end (20), a connector (12) at the proximal end of the shank for connecting the shank to a source of ultrasonic vibration energy (not shown), and an enlarged head (14) at the distal end of the shank. The probe head has a width, in a first direction, substantially larger than an outer diameter of the shank at the distal end thereof. In addition, the head has a thickness, in a second direction essentially orthogonal with respect to the first direction, substantially equal to the outer diameter of the shank. Accordingly, the probe head is flattened, for facilitating the removal of fat in accordance with the present invention. In most applications, the shank is provided with a longitudinally extending channel, while the head may be provided with a pair of inlet bores communicating with the channel and extending at substantial angles to the channel on substantially opposite sides thereof.

Un dispositif de sonde à lipectomie ultrasonore selon l'invention comprend une queue (10) présentant une extrémité proximale (16) et une extrémité distale (20), un raccord (12) situé au niveau de l'extrémité proximale de la queue et conçu pour accoupler la queue à une source d'énergie vibratoire ultrasonore (non représentée), et une tête évasée (14) située au niveau de l'extrémité distale de ladite queue. La largeur de la tête de la sonde est sensiblement supérieure dans un sens au diamètre extérieur de la queue au niveau de son extrémité distale. De plus, l'épaisseur de la tête, dans un second sens sensiblement orthogonal par rapport au premier, est sensiblement égale au diamètre extérieur de la queue. Ainsi, la tête de la sonde est aplatie, ce qui facilite l'enlèvement de la graisse. Dans la plupart des applications, la queue est dotée d'un canal s'étendant dans le sens longitudinal alors que la tête peut être dotée d'une paire d'alésages d'entrée communiquant avec le canal et s'étendant en formant un angle avec le canal, sensiblement des deux côtés opposés de celui-ci.
